5th Grade Throughlines

1. Question: How can examining something from multiple perspectives deepen our understanding of it?

Statement: Students will understand multiple perspectives to create an accurate, authentic picture of a story.

2. Question: How does conflict, and resistance to conflict, play a role in the stories we hear and tell?

Statement: Students will understand the role conflict and resistance play in stories we hear and tell.

3. Question: How do we find out the truth about things that happened long ago or far away?

Statement: Students will understand how sources of information shape the picture we get of historical times.

Important Dates

Hello all,

We're still working on uploading our Grandfriends Two Voice Poetry. It takes some effort to convert files, but we'll have them all up soon.

There are lots of important dates coming up. See below!

May 14 - 5th Grade Overnight. Bring rain gear and a complete change of clothes. Get ready for lots of FUN outdoors!

May 17 - Field trip to Slater Falls, RI. Bring a snack and lunch with no heat ups.

May 31 - Memorial Day - no school

June 3 - 8:30 A.M. The Sally Borden School Culminating Celebration. We invite families to please join us as we recognize Sally Borden students individually for their hard work and the Sally Borden award will be given to one student in Lower and Upper Divisions. This is a dressy event. Students should wear dress pants and a collar shirt, no ties or jackets are required. Girls should wear skirts and blouses. Students may change out of dress clothes following the celebration because we have a short field trip later that afternoon.

June 3 - 11:45-2:00 P.M. New Bedford walking tour field trip. Children should wear comfortable shoes.

June 4 - The 3rd-5th grade picnic will be held at the Mattapoisett Y.M.C.A. Students will take a bus to and from the picnic. Please pack a snack, lunch, and water bottle for your child. Children may swim at the Y after passing a swim test with the lifeguards. Please send your child to school in a bathing suit and pack their change of clothes. Parents are welcome to meet us there, but not required to attend.

June 7 - Field Day in the morning. Full school day.

June 9 - Class Day, 4th and 5th grades to attend. This is a dressy event with jackets and ties required. Girls should wear dresses. Dismissal is at 11:00 A.M.
