On the night of Friday the 14th, after a good dinner and some skits around the warm and toasty campfire, we all snuggled into our cozy tents! There were boys on one side of the field and girls on the other. It was a nice, clear night with the moon shining bright - crickets chirping and frogs going ribbit. A little chatting went on in the tents and soon we were sound asleep in our sleeping bags. All of a sudden, at around 2am in the morning, a big storm surrounded the campsite. Some kids slept right through the night and some didn’t. Crash…Bang! Thunder roared across Massachusetts, followed by lightning. Despite the thunder and lighting, some kids were determined to go and use the restrooms. Crash…Bang! The nightwent on and on…the thunder soon stopped and lighting faded in the night sky. All was well and some kids needed to hear this story again. You know how when a storm comes and the next week you forget that it ever happened? Wel,l this is a storm that the 5th grade will never forget. I think we all learned something that night, and that something was overcoming the fear to sleep through a big thunderstorm in a tent. There was a big debate to go and sleep inside the school, but we committed to staying outside and we did it.
